Conductor Search 2017

PugetBrass is currently seeking a new Conductor/Artistic Director. The ideal candidate will possess long-range vision and a commitment to the brass band's growth, together with significant conducting experience and the proven ability to produce high-caliber musical performances.

A. The Musical Director shall:

  1. Be selected by the Board of Directors and approved by a vote of the membership;
  2. Be responsible to the Board of Directors;
  3. Have complete responsibility for the musical integrity of the Band, thereby acting as the final authority with regard to all matters of a musical nature; and,
  4. Be a non-voting, ex officio member of the Board of Directors.

B. Responsibilities include:

  1. Preparing the ensemble musically for all concerts, performances, and rehearsals, in consultation with the Board of Directors;
  2. Directing the ensemble during scheduled rehearsals and performances, and arranging for a substitute director as necessary;
  3. Selecting pieces to be performed at concerts, consulting with the Music Advisory Committee as desired;
  4. Assisting Section Leaders with seating and assignment of parts and solos;
  5. Advising members to not participate in a particular concert if their lack of attendance at rehearsals would adversely affect the performance;
  6. Providing his/her own attire for performances, complementing the overall look of the band; and,
  7. Other duties may be included with Musical Director and Board of Directors mutual concurrence.

C. The Musical Director’s stipend shall be determined by the Board of Directors.
