3rd Cornet
Steve Riley

Steve played French horn through high school and college in Columbus, Ohio, appearing in many band and orchestra concerts each year and winning several solo and ensemble contests. He graduated with a degree in computer engineering and eventually found his way to Microsoft as an information security consultant and advisor, where he traveled all about the planet and moved twice across the country -- which left no time to play his horn. After leaving there in 2009 and working for various other technology companies he gained free time to return to music. He joined Puget Brass and took up the baritone. In 2010 Steve switched to alto horn so that he could be closer to his French horn, which he now plays in numerous groups. In 2015 he returned to Puget Brass on cornet. Steve is currently a research director at Gartner Inc. He lives in Ballard with his wife, two children, and assorted mammals.
